Here are just few pics from Jude's second week of life.
Now that we're in his third week of life, Grandma Suzanne has left Boston and Daddy Brett has returned to full time work and class at night. Jude and I are finding our rhythm and loving our days with just the two of us. I'll try to keep posting pictures in between the feedings and diaper changes!

Visitor 1: Grandma Suzanne

Curbside at Logan Airport yesterday, Auburn's mom meets Jude for the first time. She'll be visiting this week and has already helped us out a ton.

A Brief Recap of the Last Few Days

We've put the blog on hold for a few days just to relax and give the cameras a rest. Having Jude at home has been wonderful. We have basically lost all touch with reality and the outside world. Our time consists of staring, holding, and/or poking this tiny baby boy. The videos and photos below are a few excerpts from the past week.

Jude comes home

After nearly 5 full days at Massachusetts General Hospital, Tuesday, we finally got Jude's discharge papers, packed him up and drove the 30 minutes home. I, Brett, wasn't actually nervous about the driving, like I hear most new dads say. I was too focused on how euphoric the moment was, victorious even, that he was here, healthy, and finally moving in. (Technically, I suppose, he was always "moved in" but not as a tiny living, breathing person.) Anyway, below are a few excerpts from the day, day 5.

Thanks again for everyone's support and prayers.

A Hat for the Trip Home

We think it's important to remember that babies, before anything else, are actually little toys.

Mass General Hospital: Day 4

We're beginning our fourth and final evening here at MGH. The care and wonderful advice from all the staff has been the most meaningful and helpful experience we ever could have asked for. Nevertheless, we couldn't be more excited to get home and place Jude in his own little room, crib, swing, clothes etc.

2nd Night/3rd Day excerpts

To say the least, the second night goes much smoother than the first night, and the first night wasn't even that bad. It is official however; Jude is currently nocturnal. But, that's what we expected. Once again, thanks for your patience on the gaps between new posts.

Day Two

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and warm messages. We're so very grateful. Mom and baby are still doing very well. I'm taking on a lot more responsbilities than I first expected since Auburn is mostly bed bound due to her recovery. I'll try my best to keep photos and videos coming.

Sleepy Afternoon

Jude meets the ear doctor.

The Boy is Here!!

Jude Harvey Hutson was born at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time in Boston, Massachusetts. He is 8lbs and 9 ounces and 100% healthy. After laboring all night long, Mama is recovering well after enduring a C-section. The surgery was because Jude liked to be bum down/head up in the womb. More details to come later. Enjoy the photos, and don't worry; we'll be posting more throughout the day.

1 more week

Next Thursday will most likely be Jude's birthday. While we're excited out of our minds, an "appointment" such as that is not exactly fathomable the first time it happens. We don't know what it's like to see a birth with our own eyes, let alone a tiny person exiting from Auburn's body. We have no idea what it means to see a brand new baby that's 50% Auburn and 50% Brett. These things cannot really be understood until they're experienced. So...we wait and we wait, sitting around wondering, pondering, anticipating all those experiences, anticipating next Thursday.
