Re-cap of the Weekend

On Saturday morning Jude woke up around 6:00am to his parent's disappointment. (Jude doesn't seem to realize yet that Saturday mornings are for sleeping in.) So instead of getting up to play, Brett propped Jude up next to him on his pillow. Jude was wide-eyed, and we were dozing in and out of a light sleep. At one point, I opened my eyes and saw this:

I resisted exhaustion and got out of bed to get the camera. After taking the pictures, though, Jude was up again and so were we. (Saturday mornings are actually much more fun with Jude--6:00am or not.)

Later on Saturday afternoon, our New England February decided to reach an incredible 45 degrees. We took advantage. Jude and I met up with Brett for a study break/picnic at the beach.

A snapshot of Jude during his bath before church. In his first few weeks of life he hated baths. Now he loves them.

6 WEEKS and SMILING

Mark your calendars! (Well, I will mark mine.) Today Jude started smiling, for real! We've questioned the few random smiles over the last week, but this morning confirmed our suspicions. I was holding him this morning after a feeding and I knew it was his wake up time...usually between 5:00 and 7:00am he wakes up for a about 1.5 hours for what we like to call "happy awake time." We differentiate "awake times" because at night his awake time tends to not be so happy. So, I'm holding him and he begins stretching and squirming (indicating he's about to start his awake time.) When sure enough he slowly opens his eyes. So I say in a soft, sweet, voice, "Good morning baby Jude." I kid you not people, he gave me the biggest smile!! So I smiled back and said, "Are you smiling at Momma?" And he smiled AGAIN! Needless to say our "happy awake time" this morning was really happy. I caught his smile on camera later this morning. Hopefully we'll get many more smiles to share.

Jude's baby dedication at church was on 2.7.10. Below are some pictures of that day but also just a few pictures of the amazing meals we were blessed with for an entire month after Jude's birth. We are a part of an amazing community at 7 Mile Road and hope Jude will look back at these pictures and see how the people of God loved him and his parents so tangibly in his first days of life. We are humbled to call this church our second family. We would not even be half-decent parents without these friends. Thank you 7 Mile!

Jude's new favorite position to nap seems to be burying his head. When his nap is done his little nose is red and his face is crinkled. So cute!! ***Please note how he has managed to have only one sock on.

It's BUMBO Time!

Last night I had just sat down with a cup of tea after Brett had come home. He was taking care of diaper duty when he called me into Jude's room. I thought, "What is it now? Can't I have a cup of tea?" When I walked back there this is what I saw sitting on the bed:

Needless to say we had so much fun using the Bumbo for the first time! My little boy looked like a little man in his Bumbo.

Jude Turns One Month Old

Jude is a very happy 1 month old little boy today. Some of his favorite things are: eating, stretching, making puppy noises in his sleep, hiccuping, eating, managing to wear only one sock, yawning, eating, swinging, and dancing with his mommy to really loud country music.

Jude used his play mat for the first time today and is beginning to notice colors. He has just begun to follow objects with his eyes and this toy offers him lots of colors!

So sorry I've delayed in posting. My days seem to zip by with baby Jude! Getting in a post between feedings takes more talent than I thought.

Trying out our new hat:

With Daddy after work. Finally!

Jude's favorite position...I'm guessing because this was his position for 9 mos:
