Moving Day!

Last Saturday all of our belongings were moved out of storage and into our new apartment in Queens. And today we move our family of 3 into our new home!!

We found an apartment in a 2 family home in a perfect location for Brett's commute and Jude's endless playground options. We're really excited about the transition back into a home and out of tenement style living. We have been without a home of our own for 9 weeks now and we can hardly contain ourselves for this move today!!
I'm not sure when I'll be back on the blog. But you'll know what we're doing anyway...drowning in boxes and settling into a place we can call our own! :)

Happy Moving Day To Us!

It's taken us many, many, months of practicing but we can finally say Jude officially eats like a big boy all by himself. It took us many mornings of practically bathing in milk and cheerios, but the mess was all worth it.
And we give some credit to the geniuses at Nuby for making the "curvy" spoon...

And you'll notice that he likes to blow the milk out of the spoon.
Didn't you know it's funny to see milk splatter out from your mouth?

Playing outside when it's way too early and way too cold:

(So I won't forget: Jude loves to play "Daddy" with the little red coupe. Meaning, he waves goodbye, gets in the car, "drives," and then quickly gets out with a smile from ear to ear, while running to me for hugs and kisses as I exclaim, "Daddy's home." We play that routine about 20 times a day. Neither of us tire of it, and I especially love all the hugs and kisses.)

As the sun was setting last night the temperatures began to drop.
We woke up this morning to a chilly sunrise.

And since Jude likes to wake up with the sunrise, he tends to get cranky. Tantruming in a small house, when the adults, the other toddler, and the infant are sleeping are not good.
By the time Henry and Sam got up this morning Jude's crankiness was in full force.
Henry did what all Dads are good at doing...presenting a distraction.
He took the toddlers outside in their pj's for some Jeep play. And oh how they love the Jeep!

About a month ago, Jude said his first official, intelligible, purposeful, unmistakable word. It was sort of a Helen Keller moment. I was lying down with him in bed, and he was snuggled up on top of me. Just before he drifted off to sleep, he lifted his head up, grabbed my eyes, and said EYES. Clear as day. Then he simply put his head back down. As we lay there he continued to lift his head up, point to my eyes and his eyes, and repeat. He did that about twelve times. I loved it and secretly hoped we would lay there till the wee hours in the night repeating our very first word.

Since that first night of saying eyes, he subsequently calls anything round EYES, and he likes to say EYES whenever we're driving down the road, reading books, watching cartoons, or falling asleep. We love it so very much! It never gets old, and it warms our hearts every time we hear our first glimpse at his little voice.

We took a very short trip to Boston to make a quick visit with friends.
In the midst of our quick drop in we made a point to go by Dane St. Beach. (Probably my most favorite place in all world.) It was a refreshing weekend for us to walk down memory lane, smell some salty-air goodness, and enjoy the cool days of a New England Fall.

And of course all play must cease when we hear and see a plane in the sky. Always.
Like father, like son.   I love them, more than they love airplanes.

Thank you Peter, Lee Ann, James, and Caroline for all your hospitality!

Last week I handed the phone off to Jude to say hello to his Daddy while he was at work.  Jude ended up taking the phone and chatting up a storm with his Daddy. He held the phone to his ear, jabbered a mile a minute while pacing the whole house. Then finally after a few minutes of pacing, Jude plopped himself in baby Hennie's swing. He continued to talk to Brett for a long while.
Brett simply went back to work at his computer with the phone to his ear while Jude jabbered on and on. How fun is that?

Recently Jude has been loving playing with the shoes at the front door. He loves to walk around in Mr. Henry's shoes or Mama's flip flops...

Do you know the best perk about being in Long Island? Jude has a buddy all day long!!
Little Grace is just 4 months older than Jude and they love chasing each other through the house...which coincides with exhausting each other out...which means longer naps. Momma's happy!
