Trick or Treat

Our expectations for Halloween were exceeded by a mile. We were going to just sit on the stoop and hand out candy, thinking that he was a bit too young to Trick or Treat and enjoy the process. But as we were headed out the door, Brett said, "Why not just circle the block?" And oh how much fun we had!!
Jude picked up on the whole idea of gaining a few pieces of candy at each stoop at the very first house. He was such a cutie with his little bag draped across his arm and crawling up all the stairs. My heart was overwhelmed by the whole process.

Jude was a little puppy dog tonight because woof-woof is his best animal sound.  And, it's by far the cutest animal sound he makes.

Since we've been working really hard on sharing, Jude's instinct at every house was to reach into his bag and offer back a piece of candy. Everyone got a good laugh each time...and my heart nearly burst.

And since I put him in his costume by 10:00am this morning, because I just couldn't wait any longer, he ended up sleeping in his costume too. Sleeping puppies are always cuddly cute...

Grandma Suzanne's in town lovin' on Jude, and getting acquainted with our new neighborhood.
Yesterday, we spent the afternoon at the playground despite the cold temperatures.  Because really, you can't keep Jude inside. Wish me luck this winter.

Our new apartment is 2 blocks away from a 55 acre park. One of the many joys of NYC living, is incredibly big, clean, and fun-for-all-ages-parks. We enjoy every afternoon (and sometimes pre-nap time) playing at our park.

We're having a blast with all the spoiling going on here from Grandma. We've had 2 inches of snow fall today. So we've stayed inside, warmed up some apple cider, cooked, hung things on the walls, watched cartoons, wrestled on the bed, and read lots and lots of stories.

Lil' Pumpkin

We spent a beautiful Saturday out on Long Island at a pumpkin patch.
I've uploaded what seems like a ton of pictures, but I wanted the pictures to do the story-telling for me...It was an afternoon full of hayrides, tractors, big pumpkins, little pumpkins, ponies, and lots of running. Jude loves pumpkins!!

My Precious Big Boy

Jude has never been a good sleeper. Nobody knows why he hates to sleep. And nobody knows why 50% of the time he wakes up screaming his head off and seemingly ready to kill anyone that merely looks at him.
I've tried telling him that sleep is a good thing and there's no reason why anybody should hate it.
There's no point in reading sleep books or telling your pediatrician about his horrible sleep habits. You will just leave in tears. No point in doing that anymore. No point.

All that to say, Jude moved into a big boy bed despite the fact that he's 21 months old. He's been doing great in his new bed and I'm pretty sure he looks angelic when he sleeps. I can't resist precious sleeping pictures. So as to prove my insanity, I took pictures of Jude during his nap today knowing full well the risk that he might wake up at the click of my camera.
I just couldn't resist today, and voila I snapped a few pics without him waking up.

Enjoy with me:

Earlier in the week we made a trip to Trader Joe's for some strolling and in a moment of weakness a box of truffle brownies ended up in my cart.

So, on a rainy day we did what everyone should do. We cranked up the oven and stirred chocolate till we were bored.  Then momma made herself sick with hot brownies and milk.
Is it sad, that Jude helped with all the cooking but only got a crumb size tasting of the goodness? Maybe.

No, I don't make homemade brownies. I buy the box.
And I'm telling you right now, that you need to get in the car, run (don't walk), into your nearest Trader Joe's, and with one quick swoop of your arm dump all the boxes into your cart.
I will be following my own instructions tomorrow. They are that good. Promise.

This post is going to be really random, with little coherence. Mainly because I haven't had the opportunity to do an update, and mostly because so much has happened I have no idea where to begin. So here's just a quick update on our lives:

Moved into our new apartment.
Unpacked boxes for a week.
Grammy and Pops visited us for a week.
Together, we managed to accomplish our own undertaking, HGTV style, of painting and sprucing up this little apartment.
We spent 3 days in KC visiting family for a wedding.
Now we're back in our home and really, really, excited to do zero traveling for months and months. Staying put in Queens for quite a long time makes me giddy.

On the flight back to NY:

ME:  Jude smile, I want to take your picture...

ME:  Please move your hands goofball...

ME:  Now that's a good, cheesy, one...

And this is how you entertain a toddler when he wakes up at 5:30 am and we have to keep him quiet because the rest of humanity is sleeping...

At some point, when I have the energy, I'll explain how we bought a car. ...and how excited we were for this to change our lives.
And then I'll tell you how we bought said car in Oklahoma and how my dad put it on a trailor and drove it across country, through NYC, to our home.
And then I'll tell you how it was here for a mere 48 hours when it got totaled, smashed, annihilated.
I'll explain how our cute SUV was the unfortunate ending to a police chase.
And how the drunk driver, who was driving a stolen vehicle, after totaling our car parked on the side of the street, then hid behind the house across the street from us.
And then I'll explain how at 2:00 am Brett watched 20 cops arrest the fool in front of our house.

But then again, I don't think I'll ever have the energy to give the details of that night. I'll just tell you this has been one LONG, CRAZY, YEAR for us.
