This is what my brain is thinking:
Stupid DHL, stupid, stupid, stupid.
Stupid DHL.

Ten days our Dossier has been stuck in a sorting facility in India. And 10 days of our Caseworker trying to figure out why.
We sent the Dossier via DHL, because FedEx rejected the address from the get go.
So we use DHL and it gets all the way to our girl's town and it doesn't move.
DHL insists the zip code is wrong.
The orphanage insists it is correct.
10 days of insisting.
Then last night our Caseworker gets a call from DHL and they say the zip code IS correct, but they won't deliver to the location.
So DHL is sending our Dossier back to the states.
What?!

We have in fact succeeded at FedExing paperwork to the actual orphanage our girls are in. (Just not this orphanage where the staff are located to file for State level clearance.) So our Caseworker is attempting to figure out a plan to maybe send the Dossier to the location that we have succeeded at, and then have them use a local courier service to pass it on.

Whatever the case we would like it resolved TONIGHT.
So please pray with us that the kinks would get worked out, and our Dossier could be re-sent by the end of the week.
Please pray with us that our girls could come home soon. Thank you!

Oh and one more time, altogether now:

Stupid DHL.

Randomness

I have several random pictures that never made the blog over the last few weeks. But they're just too cute not to share.

Playing super heroes means chasing Mommy, scaring Mommy, rescuing Mommy, etc, etc.
Repeat, repeat, and repeat.

"Reading" his current favorite book. Lightning McQueen for beginning readers.
Reading upside down, without your pants on, that's the way to do it...

Sensory play. One of my very favorite and very easy things to do with a cooped up little 3 year old. He makes a mess, I don't fuss, and I literally watch the synapses in his brain make new connections. Every time we play sensory play, he gets about 2 hours of play, and he literally walks away smarter. It's a beautiful experience to watch...

I found Jude reading our Lonely Planet India book under the table. Everybody's a learner in our house...

More sensory play. And yes, after 2 hours of play, his little brain is firing on all cylinders and he's legit smarter...

Watching a movie under a blanket tent and Christmas lights...

I think his cuteness quadruples when he gets a shirt stuck on his head...

Grandparents have been in town lovin' on Jude all week. And there just so happens to be a massive snow storm in Missouri so they get to stay an extra night!

This is Jude's idea of playing in the tent...

Everybody's happy!

We got happy news last week that both our girls received their immigration approval. Now we wait on the orphanage to get State level clearance in India.
When the adoption authorities get both the immigration approval and the state level clearance, then they'll grant us the No Objection Clearance. So now we're waiting on that State level clearance.

However, we have not been able to get ahold of the orphanage staff that are in charge of this. The caretakers of our girls have been very good communicators, but reaching the other staff has proven very difficult. We even sent the staff our Dossier last week.
....but the Dossier has been stuck at a Fedex sorting facility for the last 4 days because the zip code is incorrect. Ugh!

So please pray with us:

1. Pray the girls are loved on...and getting some good giggles this week.

2. Pray our agency is able to get through to the orphanage staff and communicate well. (Our caseworker is actually in India all this week at meetings in Delhi.)

3. Pray our agency gets the correct address and our paperwork makes it to the orphanage within the next few days.

Thank you so much for praying with us. It helps me sleep at night when I go to bed knowing I have a group of people asking Jesus for the same things. Sometimes these prayers get so heavy to carry.
But having all of you praying too eases the burden. Thank you!

Blackboard Wednesday

We have gained so much insight by the book, The Connected Child.
We actually can't speak highly enough of the book.  If you're considering adoption, or foster care, if you're a professional, or a parent...or even if you are stuck in a rut understanding and disciplining your biological child, The Connected Child is for you.  Not only has it been a great aid in preparing us for our girls' homecoming, but it has also helped us understand Jude and his regular ole 3 year old behavior.

Here are 2 videos from the author, Dr. Karyn Purvis.
(It shouldn't be more than 10-15 minutes to watch both of them.)

Sledding!

We got about 8 inches of snow in Queens!

 Putting Jude to work...

Headed to the hill in the park!...

Giving Jude the pep talk for his first sled ride...

Go Jude, Go!...

And then a ride with Mommy...

And Daddy and Jude thought it was fun to tackle each other in the snow...

One under shirt, one turtle neck, one sweatshirt, one sweater, and one coat. Two pairs of socks, 3 pairs of pants, and snow boots!

Big Brother Love

Little Sisters, your big brother prays for you a lot. He talks about you a lot, and he's on repeat asking, "Lille sissers, come home yet? Please?"

A few moments ago, I'm watching the news and the predictions for a blizzard headed our way tomorrow. Jude's sitting next to me playing with his helicopter and Lightning McQueen. Everything's very normal and not extraordinary. Then out of nowhere, he asks, "Pray for lille sissers?" I say yes, and he clasps his hands together and squishes his eyes ever so tightly closed.

And he asks Jesus:

Jesus, lillle sissers come home.
Play with toys and play with play-doh.
and go outside and play sled.
and play with trucks and play with toys.
please lille sissers come home.
Amen.

He opens his eyes and an enormous smile covers his face.
And I take courage in his confidence.
And I'm reminded that I'm not the only one missing you in this moment.

I wish you could know how much we long to have you home. How our thoughts of you interrupt our ordinary and make it extraordinary. All of us are so entirely ready to be together. Be brave little girls, in the middle of helicopter play and blizzard warnings, we're begging Jesus again and again that we don't have to spend another afternoon without you.

Blackboard Wednesday

Here's our little education of sorts for this week:

Brett and I read this just as we were taking the leap into adoption. It's an honest look at life after the big hoo-ra-ra that happens when parents arrive at the airport with their new little ones. I may end up re-posting this just before we leave...or maybe in the months after when we're back home and a family of 5 under one roof.

Paperwork

You've asked for ways to pray for our girls...

We have Fedexed the immigration paperwork and are 2 weeks into the 4-8 weeks wait time to get immigration approval for the girls. Simultaneously while we wait for immigration, the orphanage is getting State level clearance in India to proceed with the adoptions. The hiccup we're in right now is that the staff at the orphanage have been unreachable. Our Caseworker has talked and emailed with the staff at the orphanage who are in direct contact with our girls. BUT, the staff in charge of sending the Power of Attorney paperwork, the ones who will petition for State level clearance, the ones who actually have knowledge of how to proceed under India's new guidelines...they are at a different location and they are the ones not responding.

So here's how you can pray tonight during India's working hours:

1. Pray our girls are healthy, happy, and loved on.

2. Pray the staff picks up the phone or responds to emails tonight.

3. Pray that the Power of Attorney paperwork is emailed to our Caseworker tonight.

We spent the weekend enjoying sword fights, good food, lots of giggles, and late night conversations. We just wish we could be neighbors!

(Jude's favorite toy the entire weekend was that black cowboy hat!)  Love him.

Snow! With FRIENDS!

We're spending the weekend on the Chesapeake with dear friends. And we woke up this morning to snow!

What dreams are made of...

Falling OFF the sled is just as much fun!...

Oh the giggles...

And baby Mark went for a quick ride too...

The boys were outside freezing, and the Mommies were inside making a warm breakfast...

Best buds...

And precious baby Mark...

Now we're off to the Smithsonian at Dulles airport!
