Jude and I spent a few weeks in Tulsa. We needed some distractions, Mommy needed a break, and our hearts needed some nurture.

I wasn't too concerned with pictures on this trip, but I did manage to capture a few on my phone:

The best part about leaving the city:

Jude and I went to the cousins' house everyday at 2:30 when Caroline was getting home from Pre-K. Jude and Caroline played for 3-4 hours every single day. When Caroline walked in the door I literally did not see my son for hours. He ran around shoeless for 2 weeks with his cousins every afternoon. We both needed that. And it was great.

The cousins took us to their favorite snow-cone shack way past our bedtime. And it was YUMMY...

Jude spent lots of time torturing playing with Pops' dog...

And we even got to spend an afternoon at the lake...

Helpful Blog Post

Blog posts have been difficult this last month. I just haven't had the capacity to put my mind and my fingers to a post. So sorry for the brevity.

Jude and I are headed out on a plane this afternoon to gain some much needed grandparent-relief.
As I'm throwing clothes in a suitcase I'm remembering this fantastic and insightful blog post from another adoptive mom. Click on the link and please read for a little view of our world:

August Phone Dump

Here's our August as seen through our phones:

Jude always finds a spot on the sidewalk to get comfortable and rest...

Sometimes Jude likes to carry his scooter instead of riding it. He really thinks he's awesome and strong when he does it...

Our favorite park, Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO...

And on Sunday's there's an endless amount of food vendors. And on this particular Sunday afternoon we shared an ice cream sandwich as big as his head...

At Jude's first movie theater experience he wanted his airplanes to take a picture with the airplanes poster...

One afternoon after visiting the Indian Embassy, Jude and I spent an afternoon in Central Park and had ourselves hot dogs for lunch...

And this was my Birthday lunch...a little bit of Maine via Brooklyn...

Howard Beach, where we go to watch the planes...

Have I mentioned that Jude always puts his favorite toy in his hat for safe keeping when we leave the house? This particular day he tried to put his hat on with his favorite toy: the basketball. Didn't work so well....

Brooklyn. Oh Brooklyn...

This was the day we waited with friends for 50 minutes to enter the free public pool, just before they closed it. It was NOT fun...

Getting Away

Daddy knows when Mommy needs to get out of town and breathe some fresh air.
Simply put, our hearts are breaking that we don't have our little twinnies home. Honestly speaking, daily life has just become really hard.
So we used up some hotel points for a free hotel stay out on Long Island and we just got away.

We spent a lot of time outside.
Starting off by visiting an apple orchard that wasn't ready for picking. So we picked raspberries...

Well, actually Mommy and Daddy picked raspberries.
Jude ate raspberries quicker than we could pick them, and then played with the farm cat the rest of the time...

Then we visited a beautiful state park where we got to breathe in some salty air...

Jude at the playground. Just being really cute...

Getting some frozen yogurt...

And then sleeping really, really, good after a long day of FUN in the sun...
